Tropical Cyclones Procedure

When a tropical cyclone threatens an operational site, it’s essential to have a well-rehearsed response from management. Tropical cyclones are also known as hurricanes or typhoons depending on where they form. These storms have the potential to cause significant damage, disrupt supply chains and create unsafe working conditions for employees. When your company is faced with a tropical cyclone and its associated risks, you need to know what actions to take before, during and after the storm. Operational sites can be at risk when an impending tropical cyclone threatens the area. The effects of these storms can include high winds, torrential rainfall, lightning strikes and tornadoes. They are particularly dangerous if they threaten a construction site or other infrastructure that cannot withstand their force.

The best way to prepare for a potential cyclone is to have a storm response plan in place. Your plan should include both the steps you’ll take before a storm arrives, as well as the actions you’ll take during and after the storm has passed.
